Programming

Because I am constantly in need of new entertainment, and playing wow for 4 hours a day isn’t considered productive or educational, I am going to start playing with some new programming areas that I have never touched. Robotics and Game development! Of course, I will take this on a very small scale to start. For robotics, I will get the Microsoft robotics studio, which allows for programming and development of robots using a full suite of languages, from c++ to python depending on what exactly you are doing. This also has software for simulating the robots. Now, of course this would mean that eventually I would need some hardware to actually work with my software, but for now I just need to explore the concept. Secondly, Game development. Microsoft also has a cool tool out the XNA Game Studio. This allows for game creation on both windows, and the 360. It is designed for very small games, like windows live games, or the xbox live arcade games, but it is still a start, and who knows where I could go from there. Of course, I still need to develop a good system for my portfolio, the existing system is half done and flawed from the start. I am building something similar at work, but that can only serve as a starting point for ideas, I have to start from scratch with code. Either way, I have something new to fill my svn server with :)
