The I.T. Life

Rumors are Microsoft is giving up on the Zune, at least in a physical sense. Because of lack of sales they will stop making Zune devices, and focus on the software (to use in there phones) and the service. You will remember the Zune has always fallen short compared to the iPod, and never gained the hype or consumer love the Apple device has. the 2009 HD model gained a lot of great reviews however it wasn’t enough to truly catch up in a marked that has bought into iPods for years.

I’m going to type up a full summary tonight when I get home, but for now here is the summary that matters to me.

• Yes, the new iPod is what we though, but so much better, accelorometer, and more
• Yes, they lowered prices, we knew that one too
• Yes, iTunes 8, and yes, it has the smart playlist stuff
• No, there were no really “big suprises”
• Nike+ is part of the touch now, will be in the next update
• iPhone 2.1 will be out friday, and “should” all the bugs and more… haxors get ready!
• Yes, iTunes will now sell HD TV… but its for $2.99 a episode!
• Yes, Steve Jobs is still alive

So the apple event is today, and I’ve yet to hear very much. I’m hoping for a lot of things, a new suprise (Apple is alwayse good for that), a new iPhone firmware, and a new iTunes. I doubt I will ever see any of this, I would put my money on new iPod’s and lower prices. It seems the community decision is that they are dropping prices to make there iPhone the #1 product. Either way, it should be interisting. Usually for apple events there are tons of static all over the net, today is silent. Its eery… Anyone got any good feeds that I am missing?

I like the iPhone, but I’m a space whore. My 40GB iPod Video is over half full. Argue with me all you want about how much of this I use, it is still half full. I would be interested in the iPod Touch, or the iPhone alot more if it had a decent size hard drive. Well thankfully, there will now be 16 and 32GB models coming out soon.
