Its been a while since I really talked about travel here. I really should of blogged more on my honeymoon, back in January, in Montreal. I’ll do a quick summary now. When we checked into our hotel in Halifax, we were upgraded twice, to a amazing suite that I was afraid to find the real price of. It had flat screen tv’s, a sitting room, everything. The bathroom was as big as some hotel rooms I’ve seen. The following morning we were given our complimentary breakfast, which included a cart coming to the room, and being served by hand, everything, breakfast, toast, bagel, yogurt, fruit, whatever, they just laid it out in front of us, we didn’t have to get up at all.
A few days later we packed up and got on the train to Montreal, we wanted a relaxing, and romantic way to get there. After a few hours I mentioned to one of the Via rail employees it was our honeymoon and we were interested in upgrading. They gave us a suite for free! It was a great trip, and a great way to see the country. Until we were 1 hour outside of Montreal. What we were told was water got into the brake lines, and that froze them shut. We were in the middle of nowhere, and transferred to another train. Once we got to Montreal we got a cab to the hotel, and got settled in.
We spent a few glorious days exploring Montreal, my favorite events were the Montreal Canadians game, the Apple Store, the Oakley Store, Eaton Center, and the horse drawn carriage ride through old Montreal. That morning, it was -40, and we were frozen after the ride!
The trip home was just as exciting. Beth never flown before, so it was all very exciting, security, baggage, etc, it was all new to her. We were a bit late leaving Montreal due to a line up at de-icing. And than we were even later leaving Toronto, because we were in the middle of a very nice ice storm all across Atlantic Canada. We finally got over the Halifax Airport, wheels down, and we did a fly by. Than wheels up and we started our climb. We were told it was too windy and icy to land in Halifax so we were being taken to Ottawa, where we would be given directions on what to do. In Ottawa, we were told we were to go to Toronto, and we would spend the night. Now we spent the night in Toronto, and WestJet set us up at the Hilton, and gave us meal tickets too, so it was all good. The next day we flew home, landed, no problem at all.
Other than that, we haven’t done too much real traveling. A trip to PEI, some camping, and that’s it. However, I do have a badge for Comic Con 2010 in San Diego and can’t wait to book my flights! I’m hoping to get some business travel in too, but we will see about that.
